Invest Bangladesh Authority: Govt Discusses Legal Framework to Merge BIDA, BEZA, PPPA
Dhaka, August 10, 2026 — The Bangladesh government has begun discussions on the legal framework and structure for the new Invest Bangladesh Authority — a unified investment promotion body that will integrate the functions of BIDA, BEZA, and the PPP Authority under a single institutional framework, with a second meeting scheduled within a week to finalise the structure.
🏛️ The New Authority
The legal basis was established through the passage of the Invest Bangladesh Bill 2026 in parliament. Under the new law, investment- and industrial-zone-related activities will come under a unified framework, with registrations, licences, approvals, and clearances provided through a single digital platform. The authority will be headquartered in Dhaka with a chairman and seven members, and may establish branches nationwide and liaison offices abroad.
📊 Key Functions
- 🔍 Identifying investment opportunities
- 🌐 Promoting Bangladesh to domestic and foreign investors
- 🛡️ Removing investment barriers
- 🤝 Coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies
- 💻 Providing single-window digital services for registrations and approvals
"The main discussion was about what the law and structure should look like. A second meeting will be held within a week to finalise the structure," said Nahian Rahman Rochi, BIDA Executive Member and Head of Business Development.
