BKMEA and TEXPROCIL Sign MoU to Boost Bangladesh-India Textile Trade

Photo: Collected The Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) on 11 June signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) of India in New Delhi, aiming to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the textile and apparel industries of the two countries.

The agreement was signed by BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem and TEXPROCIL Executive Director Siddhartha Rajagopal.

Hatem said Bangladesh and India can expand bilateral trade in the RMG and textile sectors through stronger cooperation.

"There are huge prospects for enhancing bilateral trade, especially in the ready-made garment and textile sector, through stronger cooperation," he said.

BKMEA Executive President Ehsan Fazlee Shamim said India's growing middle class offers a promising market for Bangladesh's RMG exports, which have seen significant growth recently.

"We believe the apparel and textile sectors of the two countries can complement each other and achieve reciprocal benefits through closer cooperation," Fazlee said.
