Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF)

Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) is an apex development institution established by the Government of Bangladesh. PKSF was formally established on 13 November 1989 after the President of Bangladesh approved the proposal, and began operations in 1990. Headquartered in Agargaon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Dhaka, PKSF works through a network of more than 223 Partner Organizations (POs) across all 64 districts of Bangladesh, reaching approximately 20 million beneficiaries including the extremely poor, ethno-culturally and socio-economically disadvantaged people, and microentrepreneurs. PKSF provides financial assistance and institutional development support to partner organizations for implementing sustainable inclusive financial programs aimed at reducing poverty through creating productive employment opportunities for the moderate and ultra poor, small and marginal farmers, and micro-entrepreneurs. The foundation is governed by a General Body and a Governing Body, with the General Body making policy decisions and the Governing Body holding financial control including approval of projects and grants, donations, loans, or other financial assistance to Partner Organizations. PKSF's activities are demand-driven and constantly evolve with the changing needs of the people it serves. The foundation takes up tailor-made projects with specific objectives co-financed by various development partners including the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank.
