ShareTrip is Bangladesh's first and leading online travel aggregator (OTA), founded in 2014 as Travel Booking Bangladesh (TBBD) by Sadia Haque and Kashef Rahman. Headquartered in Dhaka, ShareTrip has evolved from a part-time offline travel agency into a comprehensive online travel and lifestyle platform, offering flight bookings, hotel reservations, holiday packages, visa processing, and digital wallet services.

🚀 Founding Story

The story of ShareTrip began in 2014 as Travel Booking Bangladesh (TBBD), founded by Kashef Rahman and Sadia Haque — a couple with backgrounds in the telecom industry and a shared love for travel. They identified a need for a reliable and affordable travel platform in the Bangladesh market, which led them to start the business.

Initially, TBBD operated as a part-time, offline travel agency. The founders invested their personal savings — approximately Tk 10-15 lakh — to get started. Their focus was on providing personalized travel planning services and securing cost-effective package deals. Positive responses from their network encouraged them to transition into a full-scale business.

In 2018, TBBD became part of DataBird, a holding company, and secured its first round of funding. This pivotal step allowed for the rebranding and relaunch as ShareTrip Limited in July 2019, marking a significant shift from a primarily offline agency to an online travel agency (OTA).

💰 Investment History

ShareTrip's funding journey includes multiple rounds from both local and international investors:

• 🌱 2014 — Bootstrap funded with Tk 10-15 lakh personal savings from founders Sadia Haque and Kashef Rahman
• 💼 2018 — TBBD joined DataBird holding company and secured its first funding round
• 💵 May 2021 — DataBird raised $3 million bridge round led by Skycatcher (US-based global Internet and software investor) to bolster ShareTrip
• 🇧🇩 August 2022 — Received $500,000 seed funding from Startup Bangladesh Limited (government-owned VC), bringing total funding to approximately $7 million

As of 2024-2025, ShareTrip has raised approximately $7-11.5 million in total funding, making it one of the highest-funded travel-tech startups in Bangladesh.
