Executive Summary

Bangladesh's total goods export in FY2023-24 (July 2023 – June 2024) reached USD 44.47 billion, a 2.71% decline from FY2022-23's USD 45.71 billion. The decline was driven primarily by lower global demand for apparel in H1, geopolitical tensions affecting key markets (EU, USA), and the depreciation of the Euro against the USD. Knitwear (HS-61) contributed USD 19.30B (43.4%) and woven garments (HS-62) USD 17.30B (38.9%), together accounting for 82.3% of total export. The services export sector, however, grew 12.4% to USD 6.64 billion. The top export destinations were the USA (USD 7.60B, 17.1%), Germany (USD 4.85B, 10.9%), and the UK (USD 4.48B, 10.1%). Notable growth was recorded in exports to Poland (+9.2%), the Netherlands (+22%), and India (+12.4%). The trade deficit narrowed to USD 18.76 billion. This report is sourced from EPB's monthly export monitoring system, which aggregates data from NBR customs declarations and Bangladesh Bank settlement records.
