Bharat Tex 2026, one of the world's largest textile exhibitions, is now underway at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Running from July 14 to 17, the event has emerged as a major fixture in the global textile trade calendar, providing a comprehensive platform covering the entire textile value chain — from fibre and yarn to finished garments and technical textiles.

Scale and Scope

Organised by the Bharat Tex Trade Federation with support from India's Ministry of Textiles, the four-day exhibition covers fibre, yarn, fabric, apparel, home textiles, technical textiles, and textile machinery. The third edition is expected to attract more than 7,000 buyers, over 1,600 exhibitors, and around 130,000 trade visitors. More than 20,000 textile products are on display across the exhibition halls.

International Participation

The exhibition has drawn exhibitors from 14 countries, including the US, the UK, Japan, Portugal, Spain, New Zealand, South Korea, South Africa, and Nigeria — reflecting India's ambition to position Bharat Tex as a truly global sourcing platform. The diversity of international participation offers South Asian exporters, including those from Bangladesh, an opportunity to meet buyers from non-traditional markets in a single location.

B2B and B2G Engagement

A major focus of Bharat Tex 2026 is business networking. More than 4,000 business-to-business (B2B) meetings and over 100 business-to-government (B2G) meetings are scheduled during the event. These structured interactions provide a platform for buyers and suppliers to negotiate contracts, for investors to evaluate opportunities, and for governments to discuss bilateral trade arrangements — including potential preferential tariffs and mutual recognition agreements.

Indian State Pavilions and Investment Sessions

Several Indian states are participating to showcase their textile capabilities and investment potential. Dedicated investor sessions are highlighting opportunities in textile parks, technical textile clusters, and apparel manufacturing hubs. For Bangladeshi investors, these sessions offer insights into potential cross-border investments — particularly in Indian states with developing textile infrastructure that could complement Bangladesh's export-oriented manufacturing base.

Relevance for Bangladesh

For Bangladesh's textile and apparel exporters, Bharat Tex 2026 offers several strategic opportunities: access to the growing Indian domestic market under SAFTA concessions; partnerships with Indian fibre and yarn suppliers (critical for backward linkage); exploration of joint manufacturing ventures that leverage Bangladesh's apparel expertise and India's textile raw materials; and engagement with international buyers who use Bharat Tex as a regional sourcing hub. While Bangladesh's own BGMEA and BKMEA organise separate trade missions, the scale of Bharat Tex makes it an important additional touchpoint for regional industry engagement.
